Mr. Lovingood focuses his practice on Tax Law and Asset Protection. He specializes in income, estate, and gift taxes; creating structures to protect assets for the benefit of family members; family wealth planning (on-shore trusts, off-shore trusts, wills, family partnerships, charitable giving, estate planning, revocable trusts, limited liability companies, self-directed IRAs, etc.); and probate. He often helps clients negotiate the sale or purchase of businesses, bank loan agreements, and related business transactions. Shane is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Lovingood is responsible for publications in trade magazines and is a previous Editor of Perspective, a tax newsletter distributed throughout the eastern United States. He has spoken about tax and estate planning issues at national and local conferences, on the radio, and on TV. He is a member of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association, ABA Asset Protection Committee, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a past President of the Cherokee Area Estate Planning Council and past President of the Northwest Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Lovingood was admitted to law practice in 1989. He earned his Certified Public Accountant license in 1991. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Emory University, Atlanta in 1986 and his Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University, Atlanta in 1989. In law school, he earned three American Jurisprudence awards for the highest grades in Securities Law, Business Associations II, and Future Interests. He was a Senior Tax Consultant with Arthur Andersen and Co. in Atlanta where he focused on Family Wealth Planning and Partnership Tax Law. His estate planning practice began in 1987 as an accountant for a Family Business Office. Mr. Lovingood is admitted to practice before all courts of Georgia and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Other lawyers often ask Mr. Lovingood to provide their estate planning and design their asset protection structures. He is often called a “lawyer’s lawyer”. Many CPAs, financial planners, and other lawyers commonly refer their clients to Mr. Lovingood for tax, estate planning, and other asset protection needs. Mr. Lovingood has served on the Boards of the local Kiwanis, United Way (Chairman for Planned Giving), Red Cross (past President), Boy Scouts (past President and Silver Beaver Award), First Presbyterian Church, Whitfield HealthCare Foundation (Chairman for Planned Giving), and the Dalton Golf and Country Club. He has worked with the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce Tax Committee, Meals on Wheels, Parkinson Support Council, Women’s Enrichment Center, and other community non-profit groups.
